Kapok 88, Europe’s leading supplier of protective drapes for the inside of elevators, is helping keep lifts germ free at six Ronald McDonald houses.
At the beginning of the first lockdown Kapok 88 developed a range of covers that sit over the top of the control panels in lifts. Control buttons can be one of the areas in an elevator with the most germs and the Kapok 88 hygiene covers sit neatly over the top, providing an easy to clean surface and an immediate solution for good hygiene control.

Keen to support organisations during the pandemic, the Company offered the covers, free of charge, to charities, non-profit making organisations and care homes. As a result, Emma Rogers, head of facilities management at Ronald McDonald House Charities got in contact.

Initially, Kapok 88 supplied covers for lifts in two of the houses and then, following positive feedback, provided hygiene covers for a further four houses. Emma Rogers said: “…the House teams have all given really positive feedback on the lift button covers and have been so impressed with how professional they look and how much easier they have been to clean.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities runs 11 homes across the country and provides free accommodation to families who have children being treated in hospital. Every year the charity helps 6000 families stay close to their child whilst in hospital. By the nature of being close to ill children, ensuring the houses are as germ free as possible is a top priority.

“We’re delighted to support this amazing charity,” commented Richard B. Annable, managing director of Kapok 88, “and are happy to hear from any other charities or non-profit making organisations that could also benefit from the hygiene covers.”
